The Many Faces of the Teacher and A Tribute to Teachers were big winners at the recently concluded 43rd Anvil Awards of the Public Relations Society of the Philippines. Both programs, organized by Diwa Learning Systems in cooperation with the Bato Balani Foundation, were recognized with Anvil Awards for Excellence.
The BBFI staff are naturally humbled to have our programs honored in this way, and proudly share this achievement with our different partners that have helped make these programs a success.

Teacher Programs Win Anvil for Third Straight Year [Press Release]
The Public Relations Society of the Philippines, through its Anvil Awards, once again recognizes two programs of Diwa Learning Systems and Bato Balani Foundation (BBFI) for its effort in recognizing and inspiring teachers nationwide.
A Tribute to Teachers and The Many Faces of the Teachers advocacy campaign both received Anvil Awards of Excellence in the recently concluded 43rd Anvil Awards, held at the Intercon Hotel in Makati City.
Started in 2004, A Tribute to Teachers is the largest and most anticipated annual gathering of teachers and school administrators in the country. Its last gathering on September 1, 2007 brought together approximately 14,000 educators from all over the country.
The Many Faces of the Teacher advocacy campaign honors the country’s most admirable teachers. It recognizes leaders in the teaching profession as examples of true heroes who can be sources of inspiration and knowledge for their colleagues. Its rank of honorees include (2004) mentor and esteemed teacher Dr. Onofre Pagsanghan; one-time world’s fastest reader and reading coach Dr. Maria Teresa F. Calderon; wonder worker and Mathematics pillar Dr. Milagros Ibe; (2005) Loboc Children’s Choir founder and nurturing mom Alma Fernando-Taldo; cool dad and man of Science Dr. Caesar Saloma; educator-motivator Dr. Josette T. Biyo, after whom Planet Biyo was named; man for others and mentor Fr. James Reuter; (2006) Dr. Florentino Timbreza of De La Salle University, Father of Filipino Philosophy; Dr. Queena Lee- Chua of Ateneo de Manila University, Master Educator; Fr. Joseph Roche also of Ateneo, Spiritual Mentor; Teacher Feny delos Angeles-Bautista of Community of Learners, Social Catalyst.; (2007) education teacher Elsa Grafilo-Duran; Ateneo Philosophy Professor Fr. Roque Angel Jamias Ferriols; mobile education teacher Ronila Santiago and Journalism Professor Luis Teodoro.
Last year, A Tribute to Teachers won Anvil Award of Excellence and The Many Faces of the Teachers advocacy campaign won Anvil Award of Merit.
In 2005, Tribute to Teachers also won the Anvil Award of Merit. Aside from this,Diwa and BBFI won several Anvil Awards in the past. This includes an Anvil Citation for Best Special Publication (1996) for World Youth Day ‘95: The Manila Phenomenon; an Anvil Award of Merit (1996) for the program How to be a Highly Effective Teacher; an Anvil Award of Excellence (1997) for its newsletter Directline; an Anvil Award of Merit (1997) for the program Tulong sa Paaralan, Tulay sa Kaunlaran; an Anvil Award of Excellence (1998) for trade and professional publication for the magazine Quality Teacher; and an Anvil Award of Merit (2003) for Sulong sa Edukasyon.
These programs are organized together with the Bato Balani Foundation Inc (BBFI), a non-profit organization engaged in teacher training and research on Philippine education issues.
